Now, this is a love story! The story starts with Sophie, Amanda Seyfried, and fiancee Victory, Gael Garcia, planning for their upcoming pre-honeymoon trip to Verona, Italy. Sophie is a fact finder who dreams of becoming a writer, and Victor dreams of owning a successful restaurant. They go to the trip, but it turns from their romance to an romantic adventure. While Victor is away making new discoveries in food; Sophie is stumbles across Juliet's wall where young women post letters asking Juliet Capulet (from William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet) for help. Sophie's meet's Juliet's secretaries who allow her comes across the letter that would change her life.

This is a great romantic comedy for late Saturday nights with a bowl of ice cream (or in my case a basket of hot wings).  Amanda Seyfried has come a long way from Mean Girls (2004). It isn't surprising to see director Gary Winick directing this film as he seems to have a knack at romantic comedies. What I really enjoyed is that this film presented something that most films don't even dare show: Love can be discovered at any age, and by anyone. Vanessa Redgrave portray's Claire, whose letter was discovered by Sophie 50 yrs. later. Claire travels to Verona to find her long lost Lorenzo with her son Charlie, Christopher Egan. This film is different for Christopher Egan, but he really seems to be in the early stages of his career and has yet to find his forte. This films features both young and old love; which is great. Using verona Italy as a backdrop for this story set up the romantic vibe from the beginning. The music was a nice blend, American romantic classics sung in Italian, plus the song A Love Story by Taylor Swift. I enjoyed how Claire and Lorenzo were a love at first sight, and how the love between Charlie and Sophie had to develop. The only problem is that it is predictable.

I this film a 10 out of 10 stars! It has a great heartfelt story that you can enjoy on Saturday nights. It's also got a very original idea that I enjoyed.
