The Boy (The Inhabitant)

Caution: This Might Contain Spoilers!

Greta Evans takes on a job as a family nanny for the Heelshire family in the united Kingdom. She is surprised to discover that the child is a large fragile doll that comes with a list of strict rules. After breaking the rules unexpected events make her believe that the doll is possessed by the families deceased son.

This film was directed by William Brent Bell. This film has a simple storyline that comes with a plot twist at the end. Unfortunately, the plot twist is so familiar that it does not aid the film in standing out. Any tense moments are cut to short by emotional character development. The overall story is decent enough to make it enjoyable. The doll is creepy enough to give the film an unnerving feeling. There isn't a lot of gore or violence in this film. There are a few jump scares, but its not overdone. Lauren Cohan played the role of Greta Evans. The story really does set her up as a familiar female victim character. However, her performance does offer the character emotional likability but does not stand out from the archetype. Rupert Evans played the role of Malcolm. He was great as a supporting actor for Cohan.

This film can be seen on DVD!

I give this film 3 out of 5 stars! It is a decent horror story for audiences wanting to avoid too much violence.
