This film follows the story of Peter Highman. He's an expectant father who is traveling from Atlanta, Georgia to Los Angeles, California to see his child being born. He stumbles upon Ethan Tremblay/Ethan Chase who is a stoner slacker. From a major misunderstanding, both are placed on a no flying list forcing them to go on a road trip. Without his wallet, or any valid identification, Peter is forced to accompany Ethan on a road trip to Los Angeles, and try to get there in one piece.
Okay, this should be classified as a road trip film. This was directed, and produced, by Todd Phillips. His comic style is obvious especially if you've seen the Hangover. Verbal antics, or verbal confusion, leads to some major physical blow-up. Robert Downey, Jr. is a good actor, but in this film he plays the character way too uptight. He becomes slightly unapproachable, but because of it audience's can get a real laugh when he suffers some physical injury. Zack Galifiankis fits the role really because he's had plenty of practice with similar characters. He's fun to watch, but can get annoying at moments for some. I was surprised to see Jamie Foxx in this film-even if it was for a short bit of film. This style of comedy definitely plays to a certain audience. However, this style has become quite popular in recent years. A lot of the segments of the film were kind of random, but came together has a whole. Its drop from comedy to drama happens suddenly, like flipping a switch.
I give this film a 9 out of 10 stars! It has a heart warming story, that is pretty funny in most moments. However, the characters were too extreme in their roles.
Answer to last blog: King Kong fell from the Empire State Building in the ending of the film.
