American Mary

Caution: This Might Contain Spoilers!
If you enjoy my blog, you may enjoy my facebook page!

Mary Mason is an ordinary medical student trying to find a way to make money. Instead of stripping in a nightclub, she finds her skills as medical student paying off. She loses interest in the medical profession, and finds a career in extreme body modification and surgical torture.

This film was directed and written by Jen and Sylvia Soska (who also make an appearance in the film). First off, this is a highly bloody and gory film. So, obviously not meant for children or for the squeamish. Even though this story is gory it has a feminine touch not commonly seen in horror movies. Even with its feminine touch, it still follows a familiar gory story plot line. A woman gets angry for being attacked and gets revenge in the worst way. The acting was great for the film. The characters made the film believable. Katharine Isabelle played the role of Mary Mason. Her dryness in the film made her more frightening, and believable as a surgical murderer.

I give this film 5 out of 5 stars! It takes a new look at the horror slasher genre. It is a great film for gory horror film goers.

Answer to last blog: Director Danny Boyle, Sunshine, directed the film 28 Days Later.
