Looper

Caution: This Might Contain Spoilers!
If you enjoy this blog, then you may enjoy my facebook page!

In the year 2027, time traveling has been invented but it is illegal. The mob illegally uses time traveling to send a target back 30 years into the past. A looper will murder them and eliminate any evidence of the target. Joe is confronted with his future self, Old Joe. His target escapes, and Joe sets out to 'close the loop'.

This film was written and directed by Rian Johnson. This film has a very intricate plot that revolves around time traveling being used to change the future, and the two very different stories of Joe and Old Joe.  However, this keeps the film from exploring its other characters with full depth. It was amazing to watch how the film presented all aspects of the film's intricate story to where it could be understood, but still be kept as suspenseful. This makes the film a kind of psychological thriller. The film gives the impression that no-one is really bad for their choices. It also gives the impression that no-one is good either. It's amazing how the film presented this without making the characters fully distasteful. It is a science fiction world set in an dystopian society that grows worse 30 years in the future. It is an amazing science fiction film that contains plenty of action. The action isn't overdone like most other science fiction films. So, there is no action tension to the film. It aids the story instead of leading it. A lot of the film is subtly done with special effects. You can tell it is futuristic without being so far beyond the norm of now. There are TK's, or people with telekinetic abilities. It isn't anything major, they mostly levitate small objects a small distance in their hands. It has great camera effects that pull audience's further into the story. There is a lot of violence in this film. A lot of it is done mentally, so I'd be careful about bringing young children to see this film.

The cast worked great together. Joseph Gordon-Levitt played the role of Joe. He was great in his role. He presented the basis of the character. He gave his character great emotional depth. Bruce Willis played the role of Old Joe. He was great at continuing the character. He presented an image of what the character could become. Emily Blunt played the role of Sara. She was good in her small role. She didn't make her character stand out, but she did present a different view for the other characters. Paul Dano played the role of Seth, and Frank Brennan played the role of Old Seth. They were good at creating the character. Pierce Gagnon played the role of Cid. He was great in his small role. He presented a very troubled kid caught in the turmoil of the world around him. It's impressive for a child actor.

I give this fim 5 out of 5 stars! It is one of those now rare films that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is worth seeing it in theaters.
