Caution: This Might Contain Spoilers!
If you enjoy reading my blog, you may enjoy my facebook page!

After a family tragedy, Count Dracula decides to build a safe heaven for monsters. A place where monsters can be safe from humans. He builds Hotel Transylvania becomes a high end resort. Years later, Count Dracula's daughter, Mavis, is turning 118 on her upcoming birthday. Moments before her party a human, Jonathan, discovers the hotel. Dracula conceals the human and tries to get him out of the hotel. All the while, Mavis and Jonathan begin falling for one another.

This film was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. He's a director whose mainly known for his cartoon television series rather than films. This film was made for children. However, some children might actually be afraid of this film. I was surprised at how many children were afraid when I was watching it. The story is very cute, humorous, and giddy. The story is very predictable, and follows suit of other children films involving teenage children. An overprotective father, and a teenage daughter who wants to see the world. The story does have a deep storyline, but it doesn't fully explore those emotional depths in the script. I did enjoy the new term 'monster nerd'. It was full of small details that made it cute and humorous. The visual effects were great in this film. It is surprising that this film isn't in 3D. The monsters were well done. They looked scary, but weren't too terrifying. It was good to explore the various popular monsters seen in classic horror films. They gave these monsters a new look, and explored their unique ways of communication.

The cast worked great together. Adam Sandler voiced the character Count Dracula. He was great in this film. He toned down his general acting persona types, but still kept his character entertaining. Also with the accent he was unrecognizable. Andy Samberg voiced the character Jonathan. He was good, but he did fo way over the top. Selena Gomez voiced the character Mavis. She was good in her generic role. She didn't stand out too much from the other cast members though. However, she did pull of adorable vampire. Kevin James voiced the character Frankenstein. He was good in his role. He brought a gentler image of Frankenstein. Fran Drescher voiced the character Eunice. She was good in her small role. Steve Buscemi voiced the character Wayne. He was good in his role giving the wolfman a fatherly image. David Spade and CeeLo Green voiced the characters Griffin and Murray. They were good in their small roles of the Invisible Man and the Mummy.

I give this film 4 out of 5 stars! It doesn't bring anything new to this genre, and it is predictable. but, it is a very cute film full of humour.
