Gone Girl

Caution: This Might Contain Spoilers!
If you enjoy my blog, you may enjoy my facebook page!

This film is based off the novel, of the same title, written by Gillian Flynn. Nick Dunne returns home to find that his wife, Amy Dunne, has disappeared. The investigate quickly turns against him, and Nick learns that his wife is a dangerous mastermind.

This film was directed by David Fincher. This film was marketed as a mystery, but it really isn't. From the beginning there is a strong sense of what is actually happening even if it isn't fully revealed. The way the story is portrayed makes the characters appear to be fantastical instead of realistic. Obviously, this film is a cat and mouse game with its twist being that the killer is a woman.  What makes it even more unique is that the woman is just as deadly and manipulative as a man. Naturally, this has brought up issues amongst feminists who are proclaiming that this film only plays to the stereotypical fears of women and proves that women should not be believed. Which, let's face it, this is a story about a dangerous killer. Of course she will use anything to her advantage. That's what makes the plot frightening. I also enjoyed how the film portrayed the media and the public. All that aside, there is a lot of sex in this film. There is also quite a bit of violence. Ben Affleck played the role of Nick Dunne. If the story was not told from his perspective then it wouldn't have the same effect. His characters vulnerability really made the film. Rosamund Pike played the role of Amy Dunne. She was great at creating this deeply disturbing character.

I give this film 5 out of 5 stars!

This film can be found on DVD.
