This film is based off characters from the Resident Evil franchise created by Capcom, and is a sequel to Resident Evil: Degeneration (Biohazard: Degeneration). This film has the return of United States Special Agent Leon S. Kennedy. B.O.W.'s (Bio Organic Weapons), biological weapons, have appeared during a turbulent in the Eastern Slave Government. Leon decides to disobey the orders of his American government to evacuate and destroy the B.O.W.'s and find the cause for the attacks.
This film was directed by Makoto Kamiya. This is a computer animated film. The story is familiar to the Resident Evil franchise. An outbreak occurs, and there is an attempt to stop it. It also keeps the familiar popular characters from the franchise. The characters carry the story as they try to survive the onslaught of mutated monsters. This plot is predominately driven by the fighting sequences. The script is lacking with emotional depth, but it is full of single liners. The monsters and the characters looked great in this film. The computer animated graphics resonante the game graphics. The graphics for the scenery were exceptionally great. It was odd that at moments the backdrop was better than other graphics. There were a few familiar monsters to the game franchise, but others were new. The voice acting did appear to be slightly off a few times. It is easy to see this film as the prequel to the game Resident Evil 6.
The voice actors worked good together. Matthew Mercer voiced the character Leon S. Kennedy. He was good in his role. He created the favorite character who was a badass and had heart. Dave Wittenberg voiced the character Buddy/Alexander 'Sasha' Kozachenko. He was good at adding the humor to the film. Courtney Taylor voiced the character Ada Wong. She was great in her role creating the favorite character. She gave her character a sensuality and a certain indestructibility. Val Tasso voiced the character JD. He was good in his role. Wendee Lee voiced the character Svetlana Belikova. She was great in her role. She created the character that everyone could despise.
I give this film 3 out of 5 stars! It is a good overall film that helps to carry the series. It's full of great action, but it is moderately lacking in a deep story.
