Man of Steel (2013)

Caution: This Might Contain Spoilers!
If you enjoy my blog, you may enjoy my facebook page!

This film is based off a character created by DC comics. Clark Kent has spent his life keeping his alien heritage a secret while working various odd jobs. Criminal General Zod arrives with his soldiers on earth in search of escaped Clark Kent/Kal-El, and the genetic codex given to Kent.

This film was directed by Zack Snyder. This film had the production assistance of Christopher Nolan. This reboot film attempts to give the world of Superman more of a darker edge similar to The Dark Knight. Superman, himself, maintains his heroic American good-boy heart. This film's story focus' on his discovering of himself and his heritage. There are flashbacks of his childhood that give the character his emotion. The story of Clark facing others of his species was great. It gave the character an actual struggle that was great for an origin story. It was also great to see more of his alien culture. However, he still felt to invincible. There was a ton of computer animation in the film. Almost every scene appeared to be computer animated. It was humours to see how much destruction was caused merely by the alien characters fighting. There is plenty of action in this film, and it is suitable for younger audiences. There isn't much secondary character development. Henry Cavill played the role of Clark Kent/Kal-El. He was great in his role. He kept the character familiar. Russel Crowe played the role of Jor-El (Kal-El's father's). He created a very different father image for this film. Being the biological father, he created the good image of the alien race. Michael Shannon played the role of General Zod. He made a good villain. It was great watching him oppose Kent/El. Amy Adams played the role of Lois Lane. She was good, but not much was done with her character.

I give this film 3 out of 5 stars! It is a good superhero origin story, and action film.

Answer to last blog: Hunter S. Thompson, The Rum Diary, also wrote the novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (which became a film in 1998).
